This vibrant young woman came to my work one day to be my new manager....as always the girls dread when they get a new boss....but this inspriration came through to be one of the most loved front end managers to enter our doors! She's kind, she's funny, she's a down right classic and has never had us workers working more productively....unfortunately...she moved to deli :(

What She Wants to Be: Unfortunately this is not a question i can answer easily as we havent had that all important 'what do u want to be' discussion in our relationship yet. But what ever she does she always succeeds so i see more management in her future!

Now this wonderful person has been with me since i started working and has always been there for me, even stood up for me....i am her bitch!:P She has a great sense of humour and a no bullshit attitude towards life... She was a great manager but then also she moved away....should i be getting a hint here???? hehe
She's always up for a good nite out and a smoke with MIC where ever we may be....

What She Wants to Be: Yet again i have not had this discussion with her, i think it must be when you work with the person that question sort of seems irrelevant. From what we can suss out, we think she will be in some sort of businessy position.

MIC and SweetGem go waaaaayyyy back....to when she was born really....being one year my junior she has always been that sort of little sister to me, we lived next door to each other for 12 years and i remember the days on the trampoline, or in the reserve....SG has now grown up to be a stunning little lady with that constant bubbly attitude she's known for....

WHat She Wants to Be: Oh this girl will definately be in the spot light!!!! She breathes entertainment and will get into any of the areas of acting, singing or dancing....look out for this one on the red carpet...

It's Not Enough!

Social Studies is probably the most interesting and rewarding subject i have taken this year.....and its impact on my view of the world has been quite substantial. I know i've got more than i bargained for from this subject and now have this ongoing burden to do more with myself....
All year we have learnt of different countries around the world and their struggles. Most i knew something of, but when studied realised that most of us today have no f**king idea what is going on around us! Even in our own country!
Projects that stand out in my mind were Burma: Land of Fear and The Russian/Chechyen crisis that has now resulted in the massacre of too many children. Both are extreme cases of how the Government has total control of its country and the people's efforts to overthrow the power....No doubt resulting in attacks, poor living conditions and the formation of rebel groups.
I also took the time out to watch a movie the other night that my immature, teenage mind only wanted to watch as it had my favourite star Angelina Jolie in it.... Beyond Borders tells the story of a rich white girl who is faced with a aid worker and starts to grow a conscious of how things are in other parts of the world. She then makes it her duty to visit these places and try to help. This has a profound effect on her (and the viewer as the scenes are somewhat blunt) and she changes her job to become a UN embassador and helps her aid worker friends with supplies etc... I do not want to spoil the end of the movie but will tell you it is like my Social Studies year rolled into one, it shows conditions from africa, chechenya and vietnam.

Ignorance is bliss, but now i have some knowledge in the area it kills me.... Im this little white girl in a well of middle class family....never have any finance issues, i take pride and wages on things like my hair and clothing etc....to what end? Nothing i have done has been of any great significance, I havent helped someone out there worse off than me that i dont even know! There are millions of kids out there in developing countries starving to death and it takes a minute effort from 'well off' people like us to help them! But still i dont want to make this minute effort! I want to do something substantial for these people, i want to be there, help them, do what these small percentage of amazing people called aid workers are doing!

But how? I have looked around for an organisation that i can help....Youth with a Mission is the one that always pops up but unfortunately is a christian based organisation and anyone who knows MIC will know shes far from religious!
